Dear Light Group,

In the Book of Revelation, Jesus, speaking to the church in Philadelphia, says:

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out; and I will write upon him the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God; and I will write upon him my new name.

What an extraordinary statement.  He is saying that once we overcome, we shall be “a pillar in the temple of my God”: we shall be a pillar of Light in the sanctuary of the spirit of the Divine.  Our old, limited self will be transformed into a new, vastly greater Divine Self: we shall be a city of Light, the “city of God, which is new Jerusalem,” and we shall have an entirely new identity – “I will write upon him my new name.”   Becoming the “city of God” means we are like a city.  We are far greater, far more reaching than even a temple.  We are a City of Light, reaching out to all people everywhere.  Our impact is fantastic.

In Revelation, this promise is made to the church in Philadelphia.  The Philadelphia in America is known as “the city of brotherly love,” and in Revelation Philadelphia represents the Divine love center.  What goes on in our love centers?  We speak of that which is “heartfelt,” meaning that which is genuine and sincere.  In Revelation, Jesus, speaking to the church of Philadelphia, says, “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews and are not but do lie; behold: I will make them to come and worship before thy feet and to know that I have loved thee.”  So that which is not heartfelt, that which is untrue, that which does “lie” is made to bow down to the truth.  Once we become the City of New Jerusalem, there is no room for lies.  There is only room for Divine Truth.

Jesus continues, saying that, “Because thou has kept the word of my patience, I will also keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world to try them that dwell upon the earth.”  Once we are centered in the Light, once we become that “pillar in the temple of my God,” the distractions and desires and anxieties of this world become as nothing.  We are protected by a consciousness of Light, by a knowing that nothing can harm us, that there is only the Light.  But Jesus also admonishes us to “hold that fast which thou hast, that no man may take thy crown.”  Holding to the Light requires eternal vigilance.

Let us give thanks for this promise of the Divine and this City of Light that each one of us is: “Thank you, God, for the City of New Jerusalem, living in our hearts.  Thank you, God, for the City of New Jerusalem in me, in which only Thy Truth lives.  Thank you, God, for the City of New Jerusalem in me, that holds fast to Thy Truth.  Thank you, God, for the City of New Jerusalem in me, that holds the Light for the good of everyone and everything.  Thank you, God, for Thy Promise of Light, Love, Truth, and Spirit, alive and well in me, giving forth of Thy Goodness and Thy Truth and Thy Peace and Thy Love to everyone and everything.  Amen.”

Love and Light,
Tully
