Dear Light Group,
Once Easter has passed, people tend to feel that the spiritual fireworks are over for another year – or at least over until Christmas, although that has become a heavily materialistic time.
And yet, there were interesting things that happened following Jesus’ death and resurrection. After physical death, he reappeared, in the physical, three times (and a fourth time in a Light body, in the Book of Revelation). Some of those reappearances occurred after the third day, after the Resurrection (for instance, it was eight days afterward that Jesus appeared before the doubting Thomas).
In one of his last acts before he was condemned to death, Jesus expressed great love for his disciples and he empowered them to carry forward the love he had given them: “Ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me and I in you….He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit….If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you. Continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love….These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you and that your joy might be full.”
His basic message: Keep the love going, and you will be filled with joy. I have empowered you. Now pay it forward.
In his final hours before his crucifixion, his prayer was for the empowerment of his disciples: “I pray…for them which thou hast given me….I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep…those whom Thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are [one.] I am not of the world. They are not of the world….Sanctify them through Thy truth…..As Thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.”
And after the death and Resurrection, Jesus appeared before his disciples, saying, “Peace be unto you. As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost.” This appears to have been quite an empowerment: in Acts we read about healings by the disciples and about Peter raising a woman from the dead.
Then there is the poignant scene at the Sea of Tiberias, where Jesus says three times to Peter, “Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?” Peter says, “Yeah, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee” three times, and each time Jesus responds, “Feed my sheep.” Jesus is basically saying, “I have loved you deeply, now pay it forward.”
All of us have been deeply loved – either by our loved ones or by beings on other dimensions. Let us this Saturday pay that love forward. You might want to try a prayer such as: “The Creator in me loves my family. The Creator in me loves my friends. The Creator in me loves everyone with whom I have contact. The Creator in me loves everyone and everything. The Creator in me loves Earth. The Creator in me loves the plant, animal, mineral, and angelic kingdoms. The Creator in me loves all planets. The Creator in me loves the universe. The Creator in me loves the creation. Amen.”
Love and Light,
